Free: 5/16 - walking tour in Stow

"Walking Tour of Upper Village"

Stow's early history will come alive at Stow Springfest on Sat., May 15, at a "Walking Tour of Upper Village" sponsored by the Stow Historical Society. Local historians will lead the walk, centering on Great Road, Upper Common and Crescent Street detailing historical facts about the town buildings and old homes found in this area.
The walk will leave from the front of Town Hall at 2 p.m. and will last about one hour. The buildings and homes reflect much of Stow's history for the past three centuries. The original center of the town was located at the present site of the Stow Shopping Center, and in the mid 1800's the town center moved west to the area around the Town Hall. Beautiful buildings including the First Parish Church and the Randall Library grace the Upper Common surrounded by lovely old houses.
A souvenir brochure detailing the history of this old town center will be given to each participant.
