Earth Day is free and fun for the whole family. Special events take place between noon and 4 p.m., with tours given on the half hour. Families will enjoy searching the Garden for signs of spring with our Scavenger Hunt Sheet. Other family activities include face-painting, seed planting, and making a pine cone bird feeder to take home. Look for mystery creatures in the Garden.

We will be raffling an American Girl doll, Lanie, who 'was born with outdoor genes' and loves learning about nature. Lanie comes with an accesory package, including a book, and a pet bunny on a leash. Raffle tickets will be available in the Idea Garden on Earth Day and the drawing will occur at 4 p.m. Visit the 'American Girl' table for more nature crafts and activities.

2010 Earth Day focuses this year on trees, honoring Arbor Day as well. Join nationally recognized storyteller and author Diane Edgecomb at 1 p.m. or 3 p.m. at the Woodland Stage for her enchanting tree tales. Free tree saplings will be given to each family, while supplies last. Try out our 'Tree-Ask' activity, using our online ID key to identify some local native woody types.

National Park Week, April 17-25: National Park Service is waiving the admission fee of all 392 national parks tomorrow through all of the upcoming week. This can save you $5 to $20 per person. The downside is, most parks will be much busier than normal, with long lines especially on Saturday & Sunday the 24 & 25th.
